Recovery Oats
This one is a top notch choice when it comes to refuelling and replenishing your body post exercise or first thing in the morning. The aim when it comes to meal choices is to naturally include as many nutrients in as possible. If you struggle in the snack department like many of us do, make a double batch and eat chilled or reheat.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup Oats1 1/2 cups Water/ milk/ almond milk1T L.S.A (linseed, sunflower seed and almond)1t Cinnamon (aim for "real" cinnamon which can be found at most health food stores) 1 serve PURE Whey Protein Concentrate = 23g protein 1/2 banana (mashed)1/3 cup organic yoghurt 1t PURE Blackcurrant Recovery = 30 NZ Blackcurrants

Race Report: Pine Rivers Charity Fun Run 10km.

I really didn't know what to expect from my first 10km race, and super happy to come away with a sub 35 on a day like today with wind gusts up to 30km/h and a twisty course.

The course was a great mix of pathways and road running and I really enjoyed the change in directions and running surface. The bike gates kept us alert, as did the mud and wet patches across the paths from the stormy weather yesterday.

The first km was fast, and the chase pack looked determined, but by the 4th km I could tell I was going to be left alone to race my own pace. I decided to just hole the 3:30/km as best I could with the headwind coming into play every time we headed West, and that was quite often, luckily though in short spurts because of how the course wound its way through the suburbs. I am very glad we had a bike to chase!

Managed a negative split on the back 5 with a 3 min flat km on the last one, which was tough straight into the wind. Rest day tomorrow thank goodness!

Special thanks to the support crew and well done to the GTC team who all raced really well and thank you race organisers and the Rotary Club of Pine Rivers Daybreak for an amazing trophy and for a great event. Keen to keep this race on my calendar.

Looking for a tasty desert that's also nutrient rich?
Try a chocolate chia pudding!

Ingredients:
4 tsp chia seeds
3/4 cup of almond milk (or soy, rice or coconut)
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp of cocoa or cacao powder

Directions:
1. Add all ingredients to a air tight container (a mason jar is a good idea). Stir vigorously until the cacao powder is well combined with all ingredients.
2. Refrigerate for 5 to 6 hours or overnight. It should keep for up to 1 week

They are so easy to make and delicious.

Ingredients:
3 x egg whites
1 x whole egg
2 scoops of PURE Whey Protein Organic Vanilla
50g of oats

Looking for a creative way to use the new PURE Whey Protein range?

Here is a delicious 'Peanut Butter Protein Slice' recipe to have as a mid morning or afternoon snack. The recipe can easily tweaked and suited to your taste buds.

Ingredients:
1 cup almond milk or soy milk
2 Tbsp organic maple syrup
1 cup peanut butter (it’s best to use a good quality peanut butter that only contains peanuts and no added sugar/salt/preservatives. I recommend Pic’s, Ceres or Nutz variety)
2 cups raw oats
½ cup of PURE Whey Protein Organic Vanilla or PURE Whey Protein Organic Cacao

Method:
1. Turn stove onto medium high heat, Put maple syrup, peanut butter and almond/ soy milk into a pot and place on heat.
2. Stir gently until all of the ingredients are combined (be careful not to let ingredients burn).
3. Add the protein powder to pot, mix well.
4. Add in the oats and stir. If the mixture is too thick you can add a bit more milk. Again, be careful not to let the mixture burn.
5. Once combined put the mixture into a flat baking tray and place in refrigerator. It’s best to lay down baking paper first just so that the ingredients don’t stick.
6. Once it has cooled completely chop into pieces and store in an air tight container in the fridge or freezer if you want to keep it longer.
7. Optional – drizzle with dark chocolate (I recommend Whittaker's 72% dark chocolate) for an extra sweet treat.
